THE MEDICINE OF BEING SEEN

What a simple message taught me about presence, community, and healing through Ayurveda

This morning,i received a message from and old friend.

It wasn't unkind,it wasn't rude.. It simply went to the point.

There was no "How are you?". No curiosity about what was happening in my life. Just the practical reason for the message.

For a moment , I noticed a subtle feeling in my chest.

Not disappointment

Not sadness

just an awarness of how deeply i value genuine connection.

As I sat with that feeling,I realized how often we move through our days exchanging information rather than sharing presence.

We answer emails,we send messages,we make plans and we solve problems.

Yet somewhere along the way many of us have forgotten the simple art of truly being with one another.

When was the last time someone asked how you were and genuinely waited for the answer?

when was the last time you were completely seen, welcomed, and accepted exactly as you are?

for me this question touches the very heart of Ayurveda.

Many people discover Ayurveda through food, herbal remedies , routines or the concept of balancing the doshas.. These practices are valuable and beautiful but Ayurveda has taught me something even deeper.

Healing begins with Awarness

Healing begins with presence

Healing begins with relationship

In Ayurvedic wisdom, health is not simply the absence of disease.. It is a state of harmony,a balanced relationship between body,-mind-emotions- spirit and the world around us

And relationships are part of that medicine

Feeling safe is a medicine

Feeling listened to is a medicine

Feeling seen is medicine

Over the years I have come to understand that many people are not only searching for wellness. they are searching for belonging

a place where they can slow down

a place where they don't need to perform

a place where they can exhale

This understanding has shaped everything i created

At innerlight in Samara Costa Rica there is not only yoga ,reiki and ayurveda but a deep connection with themselves through nature, simplicity and authentic human connection.

Every year I watch guests arrive carrying stress, exhaustion, uncertainty or simply the weight of everyday life.

And something beautiful happens

Not because of any miracle

Not because of a perfect program

But because they begin to feel

They start sharing

They practice together

They listen to one another's stories.

and they begin to be part of the community

Ayurveda reminds us that life is not something to rush through

It is something to experience fully

And perhaps true healing begins the moment we slow down enough to see ourselves and each other

so today before doing something I took a moment while i was experiencing this feeling .

i asked mysel. how do i feel?

And i waited the time enough to experience the answer . deeply, truly, honestly

there was nothing to reach or judge because the healing was already there.

with love and gratitude

There is a huge difference between traveling from one place to another and being welcomed into a place, belonging there for a few days.

And that difference is made, first and foremost, by the person who welcomes you.

Ayurveda is a path, and you Federica embody it perfectly.

What a beautiful reflection. Just reading it feels calm and true.

As someone with AuDHD, I sometimes struggle with knowing what to say or when, and I can jump straight to the point when I get excited. But knowing this about myself, I make a conscious effort to greet authentically and mean what I say.

Your words made me think: why do we ask 'how are you' without really expecting an answer? For many it's just a polite 'hi.' What matters is our intention, are we genuinely trying to connect, or are we too absorbed in our own world?

There's something beautiful about sharing our presence with others. And even on the days we can't show up fully, communicating that…
